What energy drinks do tennis players drink?
Tennis is a demanding, physical sport at the best of times requiring both bodily endurance and mental clarity – especially when getting tired: You become dehydrated easily, sweat out the important salts from your body and exhaust your energy reserves.
Most professional tennis players have two different drink bottles on the court. One contains water while the other is an electrolyte drink and / or energy drink packed with sugars to help players burn through more energy during the match.
These high-carb sports drinks are widely accepted and used throughout tennis – and nearly every other sport out there.
What’s the best energy drink to take?
An athlete’s body is finely tuned; well before the match starts time and effort has been spent training and taking the right nutrition, forming healthy eating habits and plans. Good nutrition is made up of healthy, natural foods and ingredients – after all, our bodies respond much better to natural nutrition than anything else!
It should be no different when we are on the court, especially when it comes to the energy drinks and gels we consume. It makes sense that natural carbohydrates, sugars, salts will be better absorbed by the body; Better for us both short term (during the match) and long term – not affecting our daily good nutrition.
Honey is a perfect source of natural carbohydrates, there are plenty of science backed articles on the sports performance advantages of honey over other artificial energy sources. (Check out our other nutraceutical blogs for more)
