UK Women’s Cycle Team: Eva Callinan

UK Women's Cycle Team: Eva Callinan

Joining the ranks of the Admiral Liv AWOL Youth Development team, and alongside several of her former Hillingdon Slipstreamers alumni, is the strong time-trialist, Eva Callinan. Eva is also strong on both road and track, and we’re proud to announce that as a result of her performances in 2018 across all cycling disciplines, she has also been enrolled as a British Cycling ‘Great Britain Cycle Team’ (GBCT) apprentice.

Eva first dabbled in cyclo-cross back in the 2015/2016 season, before hitting the U14 road scene the following year, primarily in local Slipstreamer’s hosted races. By 2017, she had fully entered the world of multi-discipline youth cycling, with her entry onto the track and time-trialing as well.

In addition to her GBCT apprentice selection, some of Eva’s biggest achievements as a youth cyclist have included, qualifying and competing in the National Track Omnium finals in the previous two years, winning gold two years in a row at the London youth games for the Youth AB Time Trial event, winning her age group and third overall at the National 25 mile Time Trial and GHS* 10 mile National Final TT in 2018.

This year on road, she finished 5th on Stage 2 and 9th overall at the Isle of Man National Youth Tour, 9th on the prologue at the North West Youth Tour and has represented Central Region at both the Youth Tour of Scotland and the School Games.

But it’s not all about cycling as Eva explains, “In between competing and training, I enjoy playing handball to a regional level with my school team, watching Netflix and, of course, trying to fit in revision for my upcoming GCSEs!” With the support of the team and the other riders in a similar situation with school and university studying and exams, we hope she finds the right balance to do well both on and off the bike.

Eva’s previous teams/clubs include: Hillingdon Slipstreamers, London Dynamo and Kingston Junior Cycle Club.

She will be riding on Time-Trial, Track and Road for Admiral Liv-AWOL.
